Description

I got this guy strolling thru our backyard in the afternoon. I always marvel at their magnificent paint jobs. They are quite skittish and I scare them off before getting a capture. I managed one of this fella before he bolted.

Specific Feedback

Is the Cropping okay? Anything else?

Dave, this guy is gorgeous. In my ripe old age of having seen many Quail & Doves over the years and I always enjoy seeing them out in the field. And yes: They are quite skittish as they scurry along the landscape.
Wonderful portraiture here… :star_struck: :+1:

Nicely done on the quail, Dave. You might see if you can pull down that bright background without it looking too contrived.

Nice look at the quail, Dave, gorgeous color and detail. Had the same thought as Dennis about the background.

You captured some excellent color and detail in the quail. Focus is good and you could try to tame the overly bright areas in the BG in order to improve the comp. Nevertheless, a wonderful photographic study of this colorful quail…Jim

Great photo! I particularly love the colors of the quail. Maybe consider rotating the quail to a more vertical position, which also straightens out the background a bit.

Hi Dave, nice walking pose coming towards you and fine details. Another vote for taming the background some. Such photogenic birds.
