Morning Sun Strut

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This lone tom turkey was out back early yesterday morning practicing his floor show for the ladies so I grabbed the camera and eased back there looking for some moments. There was a small spot of sunlight that I kept hoping he’d step into and, after several “fingers crossed” minutes, he stepped into it. Got him!

Specific Feedback

Cropping? He was not ver far away so I didn’t have much space to play with while cropping. I still like it, even though it’s a little tight. You?

Excellent detail throughout the bird, Dave and a very nice pose. I like the background trees as they provide a nice setting without being distracting. I do wish the spotlight wasn’t there as it tends to make it difficult to pull my eyes away from the brightly lit area to explore the rest of the bird.

Great lighting and detail in this one Dave. He is giving you a nice pose to work with.

The light is amazing! Good call to see it and wait for it, nice job capturing it.

Dave, you found a great subject in nice light. Very fine detsil and a nice pose.
The bright area on the wing is a little distracting, so I’d suggest burning that down a bit to allow focus on that wonderful head.
Very competant image!

Hi Dave, a fine catch. I love the colors and feather detail. Separated enough from the background. I agree about darkening down the brighter light hitting the rear wing. I could also see adding some space on top.
