Canon 7Dll, Sigma 150-600mm, F7.1, 600mm, 1/2000, -1EV, ISO 640. I cropped the shot by 50% into a pan shape to cut a Swan out of the shot. The shot is hand held and I dropped the exposure by -.2 in DXO Photo Lab 4.
Excellent detail, Peter, and I like the pose. On my monitor it looks like the blacks could come up just a bit, though I’d hate to gray out the face . I love the eye.
Well presented. I am enjoying the composition, color, and find the lines in the water really add to the comp. I do see a fair amount of detail in the black plumage and this is a positive. But as Dennis says perhaps you could bring out even more detail.
Hi
Thank you for the comments, I went back into DXO and using a local brush to add some micro-contrast, sharpening and raze the black just a little.
Peter
Nice look at the cormorant. I always like the blue eye in these birds against the contrasting orange face. I thought the detail in the blacks was pretty good.
