My grandson

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

My grandson appeared not quite four months ago. I have very little experience with taking portraits. I’ve been setting the ISO on auto, selecting a fairly large aperture and then waiting for an expression I like. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Specific Feedback

Anything, everything.

Technical Details

Auto ISO 2500, 50mm at f/2.8, 1/125th sec. I decided to use a light vignette on this because it made sense and I almost never see anyone use one.

I have literally no experience at portraits, Don, but the wide-eyed look and expression do make this something special.

This is a precious expression Don. I love it. He is so cute. Those wide open eyes are great.

Dennis, Ed, thanks. I’m biased, of course, but I think he’s the handsomest baby I’ve ever seen.

Could NOT be any cuter!!!
What’s his name ?
(Excellent portrait)

Absolutely top-notch – both the kid and the photography!!! Seriously – you can tell this early – he’s very bright! (And I’m an expert because we have a super-bright granddaughter, and two super-bright daughters.)

I love the vignette! Keep taking pictures – they grow so fast!

And yes – name, please!!

Sandy, Diane, thanks for the comments. His name is Max.

I don’t think there will be any shortage of photos of him.

Hey, Max! Your grandfather may not know it, but he is a very good portrait photographer.
