Description

Her first NewYear’s Eve (at just under 9 months). She was a little sleepy here, just having had a nice nap in her car seat, but quickly got the hang of it and partied on with a good crowd and had an absolutely fabulous time as the life of the party!

Specific Feedback

All comments welcome!

Technical Details

Canon 1DX II, EF 100-400 at 148, ISO 800, 1/160 sec at f/5. Handheld. Nothing heroic done – some shadow and highlight tweaks and a bit of a crop. Not reworked.

What a cutie!

I love the balance in the comp, with dad and hands balancing the subject’s placement in the frame.

Nice job, grandma (?)!

Great expression! Grandkids are the greatest.

Nicely done, Diane. She is a cutie and you have a very nice composition. Dad’s(?) sidelong look adds a lot to this image for me.

Thanks, @Jim_Erhardt, @Don_Peters and @Dennis_Plank! Yup, proud dad there and proud gramma here!

Just beautiful. I love seeing Dad with your grandbub. The skin tones are so good. Something I struggle with. The pink clothing makes a lovely diagonal that seems to balance the whole image.

Thanks, @glennie! I hadn’t consciously thought about the diagonal but you’re right! This was a total grab shot – not posed at all except I do have Jeremy trained to give me a second to get focused. (He’s a writer/director and takes pretty good direction!)
