My Trusty Friend, the Common Green Darner

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I do most of my dragonfly watching in an historic stock pond. I can always depend on seeing a Common Green Darner, sometimes a lot of them. Where I hang out at the pond, the Common Green Darners don’t perch or even hover. They just zoom. Usually, they are a lot faster than I am.

We shouldn’t take these animals for granted. This dragonfly is a migration champion, traveling within a huge zone ranging from northern United States to Texas and Mexico.

OM Systems, OM-1, Mark 2. Post-processing in Affinity Photo 2.

Amazing you caught this guy in flight !!! Great Image.!!!

You are getting pretty good at snagging these guys in flight. My only suggested edit is to reduce the brightness of the highlights. That should add some depth to the subject. Well done…Jim

Russ: What makes this for me is the BG. The subtle variances make this much more interesting for me than if the BG was uniform. Great technique again and a superior capture. >=))>

Excellent shot and I agree with @Bill_Fach that the background in this one is really nice.

This is an excellent shot, Russ, and I also agree with @Bill_Fach about the BG. It almost looks like clouds in the sky rather than the water from the pond. Very nice.
