Description

Botswana
We were watching this troup of baboons passing in front of this, and noticed this old female, who seemed thin but healthy - and almost completely devoid of fur.
I thought that seeing bone structure and musculature without fur was very interesting.
Plus, one very pregnant female in the back.

Where is John, our resident Vet, with a diagnosis? :slight_smile:

Is this interesting to anyone else?

If I turn her over and sit her down she looks a bit like a person I saw. Then many say that there is no relationship between man and ape. A good photo of an unusual, interesting capture Sandy.

LOL!! Thanks for looking…

Poor baboon! Hopefully it doesn’t get too cold there.

The rule out list is long (at least for dogs and cats; I don’t work with primates). Rule outs would be conditions and diseases like parasitic, hormonal, immune-mediated/allergic, infectious, genetic, degenerative, etc. Hopefully it is temporary, whatever it is!

@John_Williams
Thanks, John - Unfortunately, it gets to 32 or less sometimes at night. VERY cold, especially in an open, moving safari vehicle. I hope the poor thing has a furry family to sleep with!
