Don,
What a wonderful find with this natural made frame; perfect for showcasing this lovely waterfall and the slight vignette works well drawing the viewer into the scene. My only suggestion; just my personal preference; would be a slight darkening of the rock and limb on the lower left third third of the frame as it catches my eye just a little. I just checked out your website and you have some beautiful images.

Thanks Ed! I nearly lost my gear getting it, the place was like a skating rink, and I don’t know how to skate. I’ll take a look at that limb and rock and get back with the mod. Thanks for looking at my website, took a look at yours and likewise you have some great work!

Dan, nice seeing here to find the right angle. Though, it sounds like there was a bit of an adventure getting the image. You say to did this with a 14mm. Might not have been possible, but did you get any with a slightly longer lens? It might have taken out of play some of the tree on the right that is a little distracting. But the lines in the rock help pull my eye back to the waterfall. And might play up the symmetry of the ferns on both side of the falls. The long exposure and deep DOF are spot on here. Nicely put together.

Hi Patrick, thanks for the comments. Yes, done with a 14mm, the image posted has had a fair old crop. Was more like this before processing. There was no chance of getting this ‘frame’ in with a longer lens not without backing up over drop that was behind me. Perhaps a different crop may achieve what you are talking about?

Thanks for the larger frame. Though, your original post is the better overall crop. I was just wondering if you might have tried some other lenses to compress the scene a little more. But, going over any type drop to get a shot isn’t worth it. And that you got yourself into the right spot to get this angle is impressive. Nice.
