Self Critique
I think the composition has good depth and feeling of space. I also like that the sky has some interesting clouds (could be more dramatic for sure) and I like the sense of new versus old. Perhaps more could be done with lighting in post processing to increase drama, but I didnât want to get carried away and remain true to the scene as it was.
Creative direction
I wanted to convey a feeling of how the new world of modern energy production fits, or doesnât fit, with the traditional world of farming. I also wanted to convey the feeling of the size and scope of wind farms across the landscape.
Specific Feedback
Lighting and composition and emotional impact. Any technical input on exposure, focus, details, etc. are also most welcome.

Description
Photo taken in eastern Oregon where wind generators have proliferated while farmers work the land around them. I wanted to show how the world has changed with the juxtaposition of modern high-tech wind generators along with a farmer working his land. I also hope the scale of the wind generators is shown by the small appearing size of a large tractor in the field.

For starters this is a super cool photo - I love the story it tells and the car with the dust is a great addition!
I think it has great balance as well.
The upper right bright clouds are visually interesting, but their placement at the top corner is unfortunate because it forces the eye there given that it is so different and brighter than the rest of the image - thereâs not much you can do except to crop that out, which might work!
Lastly, itâs worth noting that for our competition it is likely this image would be disqualified since the âmain subjectâ is manmade objects as opposed to ânature,â but it is still a fine image either way!
This is a great story telling image Rick; the various elements come together nicely to do that. I donât know what your options were, but if that farmer was plowing to the right I think waiting until he was a little farther into the image would have been even better to lead the eye in the image.
Welcome back Rick. This image certainly is telling a wonderful story of the merging of careful and thoughtful land management and I love that trail of dust behind the tractor as that is a powerful element. I only have two small suggestions; both of which have already been mentioned by @Matt_Payne and @John_Williams. I hope you do not mind, but here is a rework with what I was thinking. I cropped some from the left so as to give the tractor more room to enter the frame as well as cropping off the bright cloud in the URC as it pulls the eye up and out of the frame. Great story here; I like this! BTW, nice drama in the sky.
Good suggestion. I hadnât thought about cropping on the left, but it does seem to add some feeling of movement to the tractor. I thought it might be unbalanced without the wind generator on the left, but this draws more attention to the tractor, which is good.
