Several years ago we had a nice crop of pipevine swallowtails but despite some good pipevine plants we’ve had no action since. Was delighted to see this little lady laying eggs but so far no caterpillars in spite of her visiting at least twice that I observed. >=))>

These butterflies rarely stop fluttering so I had to just burst away and was lucky enough to catch a short pause when she placed an egg. The wings were this dull gray. Should I burn them a bit or leave as is?

Wow! I like the wings as they are, especially with more light at the edges as it appears more natural. I think the capture is technically perfect. The only thing I can think of which others might prefer (based on feedback on my own photos from another group): they would suggest you tone down the leaves further in the background to have a cleaner background. Seems that would not be an easy edit though.
Gorgeous!! Wonderful detail and perfect DOF for my tastes, and the wings look natural. I love the leaves but could see some darkening of the lighter ones. A gradient burn from the UL corner would probably do it. Would be nice to preserve the dark-against-light at the top edge of the wing.
Bill, this is a fine catch, where her body and wings nicely sharp. I too think that her colors look fine. Nicely black in the abdomen and near the wing attachment points. She and her perch stand out nicely from the oof leaves behind. Did you get in close to look for eggs?
