The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
We had a club field trip to a local Japanese garden yesterday morning (I went early due to the forecast of heavy rain starting soon). This isolated twig with the curled leaves from this year and the buds of flowers and leaves for next year really appealed to me.
Specific Feedback
I wish the old twig hadn’t been broken off, but decided to leave it that way. I also decided I wanted to leave it dark partially because of the dark dreary fall morning it was and partially to minimize the background. Thoughts on those choices would be welcome. I also considered (after the fact) that it might work better with a slightly clockwise rotation.

Oooh this is really cool. I love the darkness and the fan of leaves. Great background, too, which isn’t easy to find with this kind of thing. I would clone the broken bit personally, but that’s just me. It’s bright and more jagged than the rest so feels unharmonious. The light on the leaves is truly wonderful though. I love how it picks out the different hues and textures. So lovely.
Dennis: Love the color palette especially. This tells such a nice story. I’m kind of with Kris regarding the broken twig but certainly not a deal breaker. Well seen and superbly captured.>=))>
I think dead plants have so much character. The lines and textures show more. this is a great low key photo and the pop of red in the bud in the center really brings life to the image. I definitely like it better without the white scar in the LL.
Dannis I like more and more photos of flowers with low lights because they make visible colors, shades and details that are lost with higher lights. Therefore I love the reflexions, detail and colors in the back of the old leaves. Beautiful image.
