The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
This is from the camelia garden area in the Huntington Gardens in San Marino, California. I loved the lingering beauty of this fallen flower amidst the brown and grey leaves and sticks starting to fade and break down into the forest floor.
Specific Feedback
I tried to get as low of a perspective as I could, but think it would be better with an even lower POV. I also think this would be better if the brown leaf on the right were whole. Unfortunately, I had an external hard drive crash on me with about a year and a half worth of RAW files, which I stupidly hadn’t backed up to other storage at the time, so I can’t go back tot he original file to see if I can rework it. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

A very nice find, Ed. I like the depth of field with most of the foreground in focus and the surrounding ground litter makes a nice frame for it. The white areas in the center of the out of focus rose are a bit of an eye magnet for me. If you use the TK9 panel there’s an easy way of coloring in without destroying the texture. If not, just a low opacity brush the same color as the surrounding petals and putting some tint in those areas should do the trick.
Ashes to ashes dust to dust, Sooner or later, we all return to the forest floor. I like there is a lot of different textures, colors and shapes. The brown leaf is fine.
Sorry about your HD. I’ve also lost a lot when my HD failed. I think it has happened to all of us at one time or another. Thanks
Ugh, the dreaded hard drive crash. Sorry to hear that Ed. Interestingly I just ordered an external hard drive. I currently back up online, but recently read a Wirecutter article that recommended also keeping a full backup at home. My photos are like wonderful memories for me, so hopefully that gives me one more layer of protection.
I think this image works great Ed. I like @SkipsPics thoughts about how we all return. I think your rework is an improvement; nice suggestion by @Dennis_Plank .
