Northern Shoveler

I was recently down at the Merced National Wildlife Preserve, my favorite bird shooting spot and got this portrait of a male Northern Shoveler.

Cropped too close at bottom? All I had, as it turned out.

Great portrait, Dave. It could use just a bit more room on the bottom, but that’s not a deal breaker at all. It looks like the breast is a bit blown, no detail in the feathers…again not a real problem. The focus and sharpness in the eye is perfect.

Hi Dave, nice reflection shot. Nice details in the dark feathers. I think you could bring out more detail in the whites on the chest. Love that yellow eye.
