Northern Whitetail

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

My lab tech at works always asks me at this time of the year: “Are you going to photograph white butt?” I have been photographing birds and it is good to switch to insects for a while. The BG is our pond and it is covered with cottonwood fluff and flower petals so I carefully cropped and removed the resultant white bokeh in photoshop., The pond appears to be an olive green to the eye sio I warmed up the scene with an adjustment of the white balance slider.

Wow!! Gorgeous pose, perch and BG! I was sure it was a focus stack, you captured so much DOF. Lovely handling of lights and darks!

Hi Jim,
wow, that guy looks cool. I never saw that kind of dragonfly.
You did a really good job of cleaning up the background. The dragonfly stands out nicely.

Jim, this is a fine look at this DF. I like your co-workers title “white butt” because this little guy has the near white tail end. That perch with the webs on it works really nice for him too. Nice shot!
