Description
I recently traded in my D500 and first gen 200-400 f4 for a Nikkor 180-400mm f4 and am quite pleased with the results. Very sharp with rapid autofocus and should be excellent for warblers. Normally, I would use a test cat for a shot like this, but Badger came in off the bench for the test. Snowy, gray skies provided a nice extreme for this test. And Badger did not see his shadow so I’m hoping for an early Spring.

Jim, I love your Bernese images - and this one is superb.
Gorgeous eyes, tack-sharp, nice BG and the flecks of snow add a lot.
Excellent! The lens looks like a keeper!
Thank you @Jim_Erhardt , @SandyR-B , @Dennis_Plank , and @Diane_Miller for your comments and critiques. Badger’s tricolored coat provides ideal whites, blacks, and midtones for perfect testing. The Weewee, a Newfoundland, was also photographed and the lens did a great job capturing the detail in his black coat too…Jim
@Diane_Miller , thank you. They do bring in a hefty portion of the environment whenever they come in from the outdoors. For now it is snow, followed with spring mud, and swimming in the Duck Pond…Jim
