Nudged by critique from @Michael_Lowe I fond an exposure that allowed a different crop. Then darkened the image to align with some other of my Painted Hills shots, and then decided that flipping it horizontally allowed the three flower points to play with each other in a way that I enjoyed.
This image turned out to have a lot of lines and shapes that intrigued me. Lots of places for the eye to wander, but cannot really argue that it all fits compositionally.
What technical feedback would you like if any?
Does the dodge/burn seem natural? I think so, but…
What artistic feedback would you like if any?
Does the eye wander through this, or just get lost?
I like it. It would be nice if the first group of flowers was located further up at the first fork, but still very nice. My eye follows the crack up into the image, that is why I wish the flowers were located higher, but that’s JMHO.
@m
I found that the next exposure was wider angle. Flowers not changed, except relative to lower/left. Better flow up the crevice, I think. In original, the eye ping-ponged a bit between lower flowers and bright area at the top.
I would be curious about your reaction to the image flipped horizontally.
Here is the original image … flipped and darkened. It appeals as a member of some other darkened PHills images. Also the flow up and to the right changes the role of the flowers.
