Palouse Falls

Image(s)

Image Description

I don’t have that many images of waterfalls, but I have this one.
It’s a blend. The foreground was taken during blue hour, we waited awhile and then shot the milky way. There was (if I recall…) about a half moon, so the sky is a bit washed out compared with totally dark night skies. I shot about 13 images to stack of the milky way. The meteor is in one of the images. The image is from 2021.

Nothing in particular this time! I just like participating in the weekly challenge if I can!

Blue hour blend. D740+14-24 mm.
I could probably reprocess this image, I think I have improved skills now, but today isn’t that day.

I don’t see any need to re-process – it looks fine to me! Very nice FG light from the moon and the blue sky fits with the FG lighting. Excellent noise reduction in the sky and the stars don’t show the corner distortion of most wide-angle lenses. A well-spent night!

Julie, it’s a fine nightime look at Palouse Falls under the Milkyway. Your blend looks good. While it’s an unreal expectation, I find myself wishing for just a touch more detail at the bottom of the falls.

Julie: What a unique view of these falls. I’ve not done any astro photography yet but if I come up with something as good as this I would be thrilled. Most excellent. >=))>

@Diane_Miller , Thank you!!! I was zooming in around the edges of the mask thinking I might could do better now, but probably not really worth it..

@Mark_Seaver , that’s a good idea, thank you! I’ll look at the original file and see if the light falloff down to the bottom can be worked with.

@Bill_Fach , thank you so much! Go do some astro, it’s really fun!! Though I haven’t done it for a bit, it’s getting harder to stay up or get up in the middle of the night…
