Palouse in Autumn

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

The vast region known as the Palouse, located in eastern Washington State and western Idaho, was once covered by grass. After settlers arrived in the late 1800s it became a major agricultural area, mainly growing wheat and legumes. This image, which was taken in autumn when the land turns a golden brown, shows the transition from the native grass in the foreground to the agricultural fields in the background.

Specific Feedback

I am looking for some general feedback regarding the composition of the image, and any editing suggestions anyone might have. Thanks for looking.

Technical Details

f/11, 1/320 sec, ISO 400
Processed in Lightroom with some exposure and color adjustments, along with some local masking adjustments.

I think this piece works really well. The muted tones capture a mood. The compositional lines lead you through in an undulating way that mimics the grass flow. It’s lovely.
