This was taken at Badwater Basin during my first (and best) trip to Death Valley. I was thrilled to find water and salt polygons. A perfect, pink sunset only enhanced them.
Wow – you caught the salt shapes at their best! Some years they aren’t worth even looking at. You don’t say if this is a focus stack, but there is a lot of detail extending well out. For me it feels like too much, and I wonder about letting focus and contrast/clarity fall off on about the top half of the flat. The FG detail is wonderful! The hills look fine. Colors are simply gorgeous!
Chris: Fabulous color palette and the receding shapes are marvelous. I’ve only been to DV once and it was a few days after a major rain event closed up much of the park, preventing me from getting to this area. Your image makes me want to go back. Beautiful scene superbly rendered. >=))>
This is delicious. The color is like candy.
I just got back from my first trip to DVNP, and I only hit Badwater Basin on my way out, middle of the day, windy as heck, so I didn’t see it looking this glorious. Beautiful job. The focus, sharpness, the shapes, the color. Very nice!
