Description
Last October I visited my favorite spot on the Oregon Coast - Bandon. It was a windy, misty, foggy, harsh light time, but I had a blast. It was also sneaker wave and king tide time. I have some great shots of the wave action I will share soon.
This is of the Coquille River Lighthouse. The worn asphalt path is very uneven as you can see. As soon as I saw this I knew it was a B&W scene and the harsh light would help accentuate the puddles. I also felt a square crop was called for…

This is great, David. I love what those puddles do to the composition and I think the B&W choice was excellent-it really works the the bit of mist caused by the waves. My wife and I stop there fairly often when we go down the coast, but I don’t think I’ve ever noticed this particular angle for the lighthouse. It really works well. Do you go down to Coquille pPoint when you visit?
Hi Dennis, thanks for the compliments. Yes I go to Coquille Point every time I’m in Bandon. I usually stay there for five days or so. My favorite place on the Oregon coast.
What a great scene!
I love the mist/fog feel and the lighting direction is great.
The driveway leading to the lighthouse looks like a test bed for shock absorbers and Baja tires. Just kidding. I think the puddles add to the image.
The debris on the right side looks like maybe remnants of a recent storm?
I like how the reflection in the water puddle reveals the clouds in the sky.
Very well done on the low perspective and composition, too!
I just viewed your ocean waves images and wow! There’s some serious power in those waves!
Sounds and looks like you had a great visit.
Good to see you posting again.
I hope you’re doing very well!
