Patriotic Pondhawk

Description

We have a number of these guys patrolling the garden but this one kept landing on the sidewalk or border bricks before finally perching on something at least a little interesting.

Specific Feedback

Had to knock down the whites in the “Eagle wings”. Still too hot?

Interesting background, indeed, Bill. The white wings look under control to me, though the highlights in the red and blue areas are pretty harsh. I’ve tried thinking what you could do about them, but everything I think of would just look ugly, so I think you’re best to just leave them where they are. The pondhawk carries the image anyhow and I don’t find the highlights overly distracting.

Hi Bill, these female pondhawks love to perch low making them tough to photograph for sure. This quite a unique image on the patriotic perch. White “feathers” look good to me. Seems like there is a fair amount of noise on the perch and dragonfly. Nice catch.

Love the image, Bill. Perfect with July around the corner.
