Eurasian Penduline Tits are not a rare species, but hardly seen here in The Netherlands. Over the last weeks, three male were found at an accessible patch in the swamp - so a good chance for framing them. Whenever I had time to visit, there was bad light and wind, causing the reeds to move like crazy. Still I managed some shots that I am happy with, here a first.

I love the color tone here, Hans, and the placement of every element here is done very very well. But I am wishing for more depth of field to get the whole cigar in focus?
Hans, I think you did a wonderful job capturing this beautiful bird. It sounds like it wasn’t an easy task to get this shot, what with the lighting and the wind like it was. If it was a rare bird for you to see in your area as well, I am sure it added the nerves factor in there too, or it would for me. I get anxious to get that rare chance, and mess up the shot. I think you did well, and I love the way the bird and the cat tail colors compliment each other, and the soft green background.
A beautiful image, Hans. I do agree about the depth of field, but with the wind blowing, you needed all the shutter speed you could get and I know you like shallow dof images anyhow. It’s still a beautiful image.
