There is a raptor recovery center in Sitka, Alaska which attempts to return injured raptors to the wild whenever possible. There are however, situations where this cannot be done as was the case with this Peregrine falcon which only has half a right wing. This bird was taken out of its pen into a darkly wooded area to be seen by visitors.
Superb detail in the portrait, Richard. I’m debating with myself whether I like the tip of the beak disappearing into the background or if I’d like it lightened up a bit. I haven’t been able to make up my mind yet, but it’s a very good portrait either way.
Beautiful color and detail. I like the stare and very slight head turn. I think I would like to see the beak…
