Pine Marten Peek-a-boo

Image(s)

Image Description

I was at a location in a provincial park know for pine martens. It’s always fun watching these energetic animals run around. This particular marten was peeking over a snowbank and I decided to get this shot just barely showing their one eye. I have a series of images with various degrees of the marten in view.

Pertinent Technical Details

1/400 at f/6.3 iso 1250. 600mm on full frame. Editing for noise reduction and some spot removal to cleanup some dirt in the snow. I was taking a bit of the risk with 1/400 shutter speed. I used small point focus to get the eye sharp. Image was cropped for composition. Final image just over 24 megapixels.

Outstanding image here, Bryan. The sneak-peek says it all. The Marten appears to be brave enough to at least take a peek over the snow dune providing this rare view… :+1:

Love this Bryan. So very cool that you got the catch light in the eye. It tells the story of their stealthiness, of their wariness, and how well they blend into their world. Kudos!

Very cool! Nice detail in the whites.
Well-seen and captured - Something different!

Bryan, the peek is excellent and I like how you’ve divided the frame between snow and trees.
