I think sunrise at the beach is usually better facing west. The sky is painted with soft, glowing pastels. Even if you never see the sun rising to the east, there will usually be colors reflected to the west.

Yes, Chris, I agree such beautiful soft pastels in this sunrise. Nice diagonal lines from the beach pulling your eyes into the ocean. Looks like a perfect place to be at sunrise.
The pastel colors and the big sweep of sky look great. That wading bird is the icing on the cake. Inland, there are times where the sunrise/sunset is better opposite the sun, but others where nothing happens on that side, guess I’ll have to spend a lot more time at the shore watching for this…
