The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I don’t know if this is for the flora category, or that I consider it a landscape. It is all about Leymus arenarius, a pioneer species, a courageous plant that tries to survive in an ash desert.
Careful to avoid any footsteps in the frame I made a few images.
In the past, rich people used to send their employees in the interior of Iceland to collect the seeds of this plant, to be able to bake a bread.

I’m not sure whether to consider this flora or landscape either, Han, but I like it. Since it’s about the plant, I guess it’s a plant in habitat image. I like your composition and the other two clumps of the plant add a great feeling of depth to the image.
What a scene! It is both fantastic and seemingly simple.
The composition grabs me immediately and the line of near grass takes me to the far patch and then to the sky. Unfortunately the sky is so bright and nondescript that my eye gets stuck there. Even without access to the raw file, I found that many colors and tones are available in the sky; you might enjoy pulling them out by saturation and contrast adjustments. Could the sky be cropped down a bit, to diminish its impact?
I found myself wanting a bit more interest in the plain to the left, so I tried burning some contour into that area - my effort is a bit clumsy, but you can see the idea. Not sure if my freehand vignette is a plus or not.
Thank you @Dennis_Plank and @Dick_Knudson for your comments!
I like your suggestion to pull out more detail in the sky @Dick_Knudson . I prefer to keep the saturation low, the sky is not the main subject. But in the raw file is a lot more information available than what I showed here. I was too focussed on the grasses in the ash.
The sky can be cropped a bit, but that brings the hill at the right side of the image very close to the edge. I think I’ll keep it as is. Here is my attempt to follow your comment:
I like the repost, Han. One additional touch you might look at is to brighten the tiny patch of grass near the edge of the hill enough to make it draw a bit of attention.
I really like the simplicity of this image Han. The original was good, the rework is really good. The story of struggle for survival is great. Well done.
Thank you @Ed_Williams , @Dennis_Plank and @Dick_Knudson for your comments. Much appreciated.
Dennis, good idea to brighten the small patch of grass in the distance a bit, to enhance the feeling of depth.
Hans: I’m late to this party but I really like this image for its comp, subject matter, atmospherics and overall proportions. The original was good by me but the repost is even better. Iceland is on my bucket list and this image pushes it up a notch. Well done. >=))>
Thanks @Bill_Fach for your comment. Yes, Iceland is a special place. Stay away from the crowds, there is more than enough to enjoy outside the iconic spots.
