Description

We were travelling on a station track in the red dirt desert of the Gawler Ranges in South Australia. This euro is one species of around 50 macropod species that live in Australia. I was quite taken by the over-shoulder glance back at me. Normally I would like to have both ears pointed at me, but he is looking at me and listening for an escape route. Love it.

Specific Feedback

I like the BG but realise it’s a bit busy. Once apon a time I would try never to have a busy background for wildlife. Now, I enjoy seeing the environment they live in.

I know. Skating on thin ice with the shutter.

I like this Glenys, the background works well for me setting the animal in its environment. The depth of field is enough to show the large tree without it being a distraction.
I like the muted colour pallet which still allows the fur to have a some contrast with the other tones.
The face, the ears and the eyes immediately connect the viewer with the animal and give a sense of apprehension.
I might crop up slightly from the bottom as the out of focus grass is a little distracting for me.
We don’t get many marsupials here on the forum…is its a kangaroo or a wallaby?

Super catch!! The DOF is just right to bring out the roo (or whatever it is) and you got a fantastic look! The light is superb and that makes the BG not at all distracting. It shows a very nice environment and is nicely subdued behind the subject. The only thing I could maybe change is to lighten or lower contrast on the dark bush in the LL corner – maybe along with a slight crop to minimize its visual weight. A completely wonderful image!!

Thank you Ryan.

I was thinking about cropping a little from the bottom, however, if you look closely you can see his tale through the grass. I wanted to leave a little breathing room for that reason.

This is a euro. A robust arid zone sub-species of the kangaroo.

You always come up with a nudge-worthy idea. in the edit I lightened the dark bush in the LL. No crop.

Like!! (It’s an old habit – I nudge my husband a lot.)

Love this pose - he is definitely begging you…
The edit is perfect. I like the crop as is, with the environment included.
