Poinsettia Wannabe?

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

The closest natural thing to Christmas color around here is this Hydrangea. After holding onto its flowers all spring and summer and through a couple of light frosts, it is now going out with style. So I’ll let it say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Technical Details

Focus stack but not a heroic one. Minor tonal tweaks in LR and into PS for a little more tonal drama. Cropped for composition.

Diane - great title! This is just what came to mind when I opened this. Perfect comp and colors, and your usual exquisite detail. The raindrops are very appealing.
Well done!

Diane: Aptly titled indeed and a superb comp and capture. Love the vibrant color and the drops are icing on a very fine cake. Most excellent. >=))>

Much better than a Poinsettia, Diane. I always thought those were vastly overrated. This is excellent. Have a great Christmas and New Year.

oooh this is so rich in color and texture. I love the bright yellow morphing to green and the varying shades of brick. Quite a good study in how these plants cope with the changing seasons. Merry Christmas right back atcha!

Thanks, @SandyR-B, @Bill_Fach, @Dennis_Plank and @Kris_Smith! Wouldn’t you know, this was even better the next day, with more droplets after a light overnight rain! I was too busy with holiday stuff to post it but did get a picture with a different view. Have time now to work it up, and to try to catch up here as an astro project is sort of winding down.
