This is one photo that wasn’t included in the “Arctic Tern Passion” series that I posted earlier in the Avian Gallery. This was the dismount shot. Taken on the waterfront at Valdez, Alaska (13 miles from my home).

Gary, the red feet and bills are a fine extra attention grabber (the old Nat. Geo. photog’s standby…). The action looks good, with the terns standing out nicely from the surroundings. Their presence is much stronger in the large view.
