Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

In South Africa, there are occasional roadside rest areas and picnic tables where one can stop for lunch and stretch legs.
We were eating lunch at one when I looked up and saw this thing, seemingly teetering on the edge, immediately above the picnic area. We moved to another spot.

Sandy: You’ve highjacked one of my upcoming image titles :triumph: :smirk:! But what a neat find and I suspect it’s been there for a looooong time. Interesting colors in the rock and especially contrasted to the sky. My only tiny <1 cent nit would be to have a tiny bit of separation between the rock and the tree. Nicely spotted and captured. >=))>

Sandy this is for me an emotional photo, well seen and captured.
I agree with Bill about the tree.

I love balancing rocks. They were common in the granite where I grew up, but not here in the Pacific Northwest. The lichen on the rock is wonderful.

I like the above thoughts, and you might also play with reducing the saturation in the brightest clouds. They have a slight blue tinge, and taking them more to white might help a a nice bit of color contrast.

Thank you all for suggestions, which I have implemented.
Dragged out the digital hedge-trimmers, and decreased sat on the clouds.
