Predicting rainbows

Predicting rainbows

Is there a way of predicting rainbows? Yesterday I could tell by the weather that one should be happening soon and it did.

The trouble was I couldn’t tell where it would be and as a result had to dash around finding a composition before it vanished.

Is it possible to tell where they should appear given the time of day or where the various elements are?

Many thanks
Chris

I’m not 100% sure as I read this quite some time ago, but I’m pretty sure Glenn Randall goes over it in his book: https://www.amazon.com/Science-Craft-Great-Landscape-Photography/dp/1937538478

Do a web search - a lot of free hits.
It’s not difficult to learn the atmospheric conditions conducent to rainbows and get in a good position with sun at your back.
