That is one beautiful bird, Steven. I am not familiar with it, since I live in the east. Your patience certainly paid off. Wonderful detail in the feathers, and nice lighting. I like that he turned his head slightly for you. I am thinking that if you were to crop some from the left and top to get him a bit more off center, it would improve this portrait even more.

Superb detail in the Pyrrhuloxia, Steven. I agree with Shirley that a crop from the left and top would make for a more pleasing composition, and you have plenty of detail to support a tighter crop.

Superb detail here and very pleasing light. I took the liberty of making a copy at cropping it in a way that uses the rule of thirds. Sorry about the blur. I think this crop helps present the bird in its environment and reduces some of the busyness of the image.
