Interesting experiment, Sandy. It doesn’t really work for my taste. It seems a little out of focus for some reason which makes me keep trying to focus my eyes without success, like I’m trying to find something that just isn’t there. It seems like it should work and I’m not sure why it isn’t. I wonder what would happen if one were to take the image at a bit of an angle and focus stack it to give the drops a bit more of a 3-d feel?
Focus stacking is pretty straight forward these days, Sandy. You can get really nit picky about it, but for the most part the software does it all for you.
Sandy, I have to agree with @Dennis_Plank on this one. However, I also have to agree with you that I need to make 2025 the year to learn focus stacking. Hopefully I will be healthy and have the time and desire to do that. I have been amazed at some of the macro shots on here where people have used focus stacking.
Sandy, this does feel a bit soft, but that’s likely to be the high contrast and the optics of the drops. As presented, I wonder about going b&w since there very little color. The larger drops are nicely distributed through the frame. One of the fun things about droplet is their lensing capacity, something under the table would let that show and help differentiate between the different size drops.
