Red-breasted Sapsucker

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Caught this guy in the backyard. So far, this year, they haven’t used the house to attract a mate.

Specific Feedback

Any thoughts appreciated. Does the red seem too saturated? There was a slight haze to the image and the reds really popped when I used the dehaze slider and I actually had to desaturate the reds to compensate.

Technical Details

Canon R5; 100-500 with 1.4 TC at 508 mm; 1/640 at f8; ISO 5000

The reds look fine to me, Allen. I’m not sure why, but this image reminds me strongly of an Audubon painting, though of course, far more detailed. A beautiful image.

Really nice Allen. Reds look good to me too. Fine pose and tones with a pleasing background. A beauty of a species.
