Description

I can’t recall seeing one with such vibrant red. I also like the wood chips flying and the contrasting green around the bird.

This is really an excellent look at this red bellied sapsucker. Excellent detail and color. I like the perch. This in your previous post of sapsucker are both quite good. Sounds as if she went to New York City recently. You got some really nice shots from Central Park.

Gorgeous, Allen. Beautiful detail in the bird, nice action with the flying chips and you even managed to get enough depth of field to encompass the whole perch. An excellent image.

Those little wood chips define the story of sapsucker feeding nicely. The comp is fine as presented and the colors are beautiful. Nicely done…Jim

Gorgeous shot! The bird itself is wonderful but for me the detail in the tree competes. I wonder about reducing contrast and adding a touch of blur there, on a graduated basis away from the bird. It could probably pass for being slightly OOF. I actually feel conflicted about that as I love the detail in the lichen. Maybe just a graduated darkening toward the right. Lightening the barks in the BG could also give the bird a bit more prominence. Gorgeous in any case!

I love the bits of flying debris from the intense hammering! Fabulous detail and the color is great - must be trying to attract the ladies. I like the composition and the furry/fuzzy nature of the tree trunk itself. Contrasts well with the bird which is so bright that I don’t feel it competes that much with it for attention. What a beauty.

Great shot. I especially love how you captured the little wood chips in the air. The colors, textures, and sharpness of the details are all lovely.

Nice to see the bird in good detail and the tree in the foreground.
