A slightly better head turn would have capped this off, but that’s just a good excuse to go back. Excellent detail and good exposure on a classic woodpecker perch.
Lovely sticks in both! I think the sky is a bit intense in the first, and I’d consider cropping from the left to get rid of the brighter branch in the UL, then from the bottom to decenter the bird a little. The top of the “perch” is much more interesting than the bottom.
In the second, I’d love to see the bird bigger, with more detail, but I love the darker gradient on the snag.
