Red-bellied woodpecker

I would have preferred not to have the bird back-lit, but I like that he is facing back towards me.

Many pictures of woodpeckers have the bird facing the tree

Excellent detail in the woodpecker, Eddie and I do like the head turn. The bright band along the left really grabs my eye-you might want to try cropping it out (though that might make it a bit tight) or seeing if it’s possible to burn it down, or clone over it. Any one of the three might subdue it.

Thanks. Yes I was wondering about that “stripe” myself. I may crop it out

Nice woodpecker shot. And you are right, you just have to take them where you can get them. Good that it turned its head towards you. I also like the idea of taking off the bright left side. If it gets too tight you could leave a thin band for cloning over.
