Self Critique

The contrast between the red rose and green colors of the leaves and background attracted me to this photograph. The color red has been a difficult color for me to capture accurately so I worked on various images that would help me understand how to capture them accurately.

Creative direction

I saw grace and peace in this image and I liked how the backside of the rose was an unusual angle for many photographs of roses I have seen.

Specific Feedback

What do you think of taking this photograph showing the backside of the rose. Is this an acceptable perspective to choose?

Technical Details

Nikon D7200, 85mm lens, F5.6, 1/1/600.

Description

A single red rose in full bloom is always beautiful and enjoyable when you find them. I wanted to make the rose the hero of the story but also show enough of the background for context because the green color contrasts and supports the main subject.

Tom, the from below look at this rose is novel and looks good. I think you’ve positioned it well against the bright green leaves with the clear area behind the rose.

Thank you, Mark for your reeassuring note about the direction of this photo! Much appreciated.
