Red-shouldered Hawk nest

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I observed the hawk nest near my neighborhood lake boat dock this morning. I think the adults are trying to get the youngster to branch out from the nest as they were doing a lot of squawking and I saw no feeding being done.

Specific Feedback

Any comments appreciated.
I reduced the brightness of the sky a good bit but it is still quite bright.

Technical Details

Canon R7, 200-800mm, handheld
ISO 4000, f9, 1/800s

The detail in all three is excellent, Allen. Hard to pick a favorite, but I like the squawking pose in the first and trees framing the hawk in the thrid.

Wow! Wonderful situation and excellent detail! I hope we get to see more of these guys!

Allen, the details in the birds in all three look great and their actions keep interest on the birds. The sky seems reasonable to me. I get a chuckle out of #2 with the birds looking in opposite directions from each side of the branch. The tight look in #3 shows of the hawks feathers very well.

Gorgeous images, Allen. The compositions in all three are excellent and the detail in the birds is superb.

Hi Allen
Nice series of shots. I going with the first, because of the Hawk expression.

Nice photographs! I really like the first and third photographs. The expression of the first is really nice. You mention that you decreased the brightness in the sky… IMO it will be tough to bring it down further as you have some white clouds in there. Maybe boost the contrast of the birds helping in isolating from the sky and the tree branches which are primarily the same colors of the birds.

Nice! I have never seen a hawk nesting, so this is way too cool. I especially like the first one that seems to be screeching at you.

All great photos! I like the expression and the posture of the first Hawk the best. Very expressive!
