Red-shouldered Hawk

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

You never know what you might find when you go out for a walk. Not a particularly common bird; surprised and happy to spot it. I was trying to get closer and at a higher vantage point when a garbage truck drove by and spooked it.

Specific Feedback

Any thoughts appreciated.

This is very nice. I really like the level of detail. Excellent pose and perch. Welcome composed. Enjoyable image.

Very nice, Allen. While it would have been nice to be more level with the bird, this doesn’t feel too steep. Detail and exposure look good and I like the simple composition. The background works perfectly for my taste. One of these was hanging out at Ridgefield quite a few years ago, but I haven’t seen one any further north.
