Critique Style Requested: Standard

Description

Redland Bay Anchorage and the last 5% moon.

I was actually out chasing meteorites before dawn, but they were too close to the moon. This is pre dawn from the bike track I regularly use. It was still pretty dark, as per the few still visible stars. The photo is pretty much as shot, levels, cropped and sharpened. No added saturation, clarity or vibrance. Negligable contrast added. Fixed camera flare due to the bright part of the moon causing a halo at the bottom
The following days were 100% cloud so I never got to see the meteorites.

@Diane_Miller I played around a bit and eventually reduced the exposure by approximately 1 F stop. I notice that the very light band immediately above the orange is now removed and there is a smoother transition between the orange above the clouds and the blue sky. The orange saturation is also affected by this change. I have also reduced the chromatic aberration somewhat. Thanks for your suggestion.

Specific Feedback

I wonder if the colours are too vivid, even though this is as shot. Does the mono version do anything except be an interesting experiment.

A nice capture! I love that you captured some earthshine on the moon – a difficult exposure range to deal with. Colors are not too vivid for my taste. I wonder about lowering the exposure a little to give more of an earlier predawn feeling. I prefer the reality of the color version.
