The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I loved that the bird seems to be looking down at it’s reflection. It gave a sense that everything has this self evaluation side and worries what others see and think.
Specific Feedback
wondering if i should bring the shadows up on the bird some t o lighten the bottom of the bird or if its good where it is.

Hi Todd. Welcome to NPN and the Avian Forum. I think you’ll enjoy it here. Do please remember that we ask everyone to participate by critiquing others images, preferably at a ratio of at least two critiques per post.
I like the pose of the Red-winged Blackbird in this image, though I suspect he’s more interested in food than self-image. I like the blacks where they are. I find that there’s a tendency to try to bring detail out of blacks at the sacrifice of them being black and people end up with gray birds instead of black birds. I’m not sure about the composition for this image. There seems to be a lot of water above the bird and while it is very beautiful water, it doesn’t really add to the image for me. I think cropping down to just above the patch of bright submerged vegetation would keep the eye on the bird and immediate surroundings-all that bright water tends to pull my eye up and out of the frame.
Hi Todd, welcome! Nice catch of this RWBB. My thoughts pretty much mirror Dennis in terms of cropping and exposure. I would add that I could see having a tad more space on the right as that is the direction the bird is facing. TFS.
Hi Todd. Welcome to NPN. The water is really nice along with the reflection. I think Dennis has given you some good food for thought. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
