Ring Bill Gull Fly by

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Lots of gulls in San Diego. Usually not all that photogenic but, I did like the back lighting and wing position. I thought the Yellow-orange stood out well in contrast to all the gray.

A very nice capture, with gorgeous water!!

Nice job, Charlie. Was the water really gray? Regardless, I like the result including the dirty face which adds some reality to the world of the gull.

Yes, we were at low tide where the San Diego river meets the ocean. Lots of mud and flats usually covered. The water really appeared to be almost black. Around 5:00PM.
Thanks

Nice catch Charlie. The yellow beak and eye help bring our attention to the bird and contrasts nicely with the gray surroundings.

Charlie, I like the overall high key feeling here. The gull stands out beautifully, especially the yellows and the black wing tips. The bit of sharp water below helps set the stage well.

Nice wing position, Charlie, and the beak and eyes stand out well against the gray sky . Common birds still provide appealing photos, and are always good practice at any rate. Fine image!
