Rough Legged Hawk

Here is the same Rough Legged Hawk that Dan saw. This was taken a day earlier and in heavy fog. Also a large crop, 25% of full frame. I think Dan was a little closer than I was and he didn’t have the fog to deal with. His image definitely shows more clarity. I’ve also included a flight shot.

Iso-2000, 100-400+1.4 extender (560mm), f8, 500th, Fuji X-T3, handheld, 25% of full frame, Adobe camera raw 11, Topaz AI Clear, Topaz adjust, TK sharpening action at 10%

The in-flight shot is iso-1600, 1000th, also handheld and a 25% of full frame crop. Wish there had been more light as this would be sharper at two thousandths of a second

Looks nice even in the fog…
I would have loved a flight shot.
Just a beautiful bird, a real treat to see.

Excellent detail in the first image, David. Nice framing in both the shots. I haven’t tried processing this bird yet, so it will be interesting to see if I can come up to this standard.

Jealous of the opportunity! It is a beautiful bird. As you mention, the image quality isn’t ideal, given the distance and environment. You’ll just have to go back!
