Hi and welcome to NPN. What a delightful and intriguing photo. Looks like it’s lit up for an event, but maybe it’s like that all the time. The buildings look pretty normal to me, with some slight bowing on the far left column and arch…toward the back of the photo.
In terms of creativity, I’m pretty much a photo realist, so maybe not the best to give an opinion, but maybe leaving the people blurred if they moved a lot during your long exposures would be a fun thing to explore. Especially given that many are wearing colorful clothes. Things along those lines - movement of people with the stillness of the buildings.
Hope to see more of your part of the world and your insights about the other photos you see presented here.
Welcome to NPN, Oguzhan. The shapes and lights on the structures are certainly eye catching. When you mentioned long exposures my mind went to multiple seconds if not minutes, but I see you were at 1/200, which would stop most of the people motion unless they were close and fast. I think your choice of lens and point of view are what makes this image look rather documentary than “artsy”. The straight-on angle is also going to make it look that way, though another choice is obviously going to lose part of the structure I don’t know if there are photography restrictions in that area, but it might be interesting to shoot from inside one of those main arches with a wide angle lens-perhaps far enough back from the entrance to frame the rest of the image with the edges of the arch. Just throwing these things out with no idea of their feasibility.
Ok - playtime - as Dennis said your documentary style has captured the detail well.
So the the thing that grabs me is the light, majesty of the architecture, and energy.
So in photoshop first off, made a copy layer - added motion blur, masked it out and then applied it to appropriate areas.
I have gone “over the top” here to try and invoke the energy and colours in the photograph.
No rules - have fun
If you don’t like what I have done - that’s fine - feel free to ignore any and all advice advice - just play and take only the ideas that you want - or go in a completely different direction
Feel free to add your thoughts to other people’s images here - a fresh set of eyes always helps.
Welcome to NPN, Oguzhan. This is an excellent view, I wouldn’t change a thing. I like how sharp and clear the people are. I also like how you’ve caught the colored lights and balanced them against the twilight sky with it’s own subtle colors. Getting the timing right on that balance is a challenge. Yes, 1/200 s for a shutter is not a long exposure, but I assume that you used that shot to get the people sharp and then used longer exposures for the buildings and sky.
