@David_Bostock posted a group of cranes from Ridgefield NWR last week. I was down there last Monday and there were a lot more cranes than I’ve ever seen there before. One large flock took off in groups while I was near their flight path and I managed to get a few shots. This was one of my favorites. And yes-I actually had than nice sky in the background.

Sony a1, FE200-600 + 1.4 TC @ 417 mm, hand held from car, f/9, 1/2000, iso 800, manual exposure. Processed in LR & PS CC. Minimal processing. Cropped to 7836x4908. Taken at 9:56 AM on January 17th.

This is absolutely stunning, Dennis! I love how you caught the ones in the front not quite separated from each other. And then the back one trying to catch up. It’s really a piece of art.

Oh that is fantastic, Dennis. I love the trailing bird calling. Excellent, and so sharp too. As @Vanessa_Hill said, this is art.

Nice! I can just hear them…that warbly, whistle-y hooting thing they do. Fabulous capture. The light and sky are to die for.
