The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Waking up after a storm always brings surprises this deep in the forest. The fog always plays “Catch Me If You Can”, as soon as I get the camera out and start to compose, the fog starts to dissipate. But on this morning, I think I was quick enough.
Specific Feedback
Both of these panoramic photos are crops from the same 4 panel stitched image. I am not sure which crop to go with. Your preference is sought.
Also, your thoughts on the color balance.
Technical Details
Nikon D850, Nikon 80-200mm f/4 lens at 90 mm, f11, 1/5 sec, ISO 100.
Four vertical frames stitched together in PS. Then cropped to a 3:1 ratio before making edits.
Processed in ACR and PS with substantial edits. I color balanced the image towards the green side of things this time, as for some reason I was feeling green.

Hi @Youssef_Ismail, What a lovely image choice you have shared with us. For me I like the first image, it feels like a better balance of foliage between the upper left and the lower right corners (although without the watermark, the lower right might be too heavy in that version) . I do like the rhythm of the trunks better in the first one too.
The color balance you have chosen does seem to work well for the image.
I agree with @guy and prefer the first image Youssef. I like the contrasts better in that one; the more open background gives it a nice depth. You are blessed to live in such beauty!
I prefer the second, but would increase the contrast/dynamic range a bit. For me it feels more harmonious and of a piece. Gorgeous light. Good for you for making the effort and finding this little slice. Well, big slice. Really serene and I can almost smell those big conifers.
Hi Youssef,
Both panos are quite lovely and after toggling back and forth a few times I am leaning toward the second version. The balance with the tree spacing just seems to be a little better in that one; at least for my tastes. The color balance looks just fine to me and the light and mood in both versions is sublime. Was this also from your deck? Beautifully done!
Hi Youssef,
Beautiful forest images. I think I prefer the first image. Both crops work well. I definitely like how you processed these images. Very natural looking. Well done.
While I am not a pano enthusiast, your first image works extremely well. I feel that it is much more successful than the second because it is more fluid and encourages my eye to move across the frame in a way that, for me, the second one doesn’t. That is probably in part because the first one is back further and doesn’t pull my eye to look at this or that so much as follow the flow. The way you’ve softened the image, combined with the colour palette and the movement of light and shadow make this a very effective pano.
Love this so much! I prefer the second image due to the less busy edges. This is a great way to capture a scene like this. I visit the Redwoods every couple of years and always find myself frustrated with capturing the scenes adequately. I think you’ve done a fine job here. I really like the tones and luminance you’ve worked into this. Very nice!
I prefer the first image as well. It has that glowing fog that I used to enjoy when I lived in Half Moon Bay. It’s clear that you’ve gotten a good feel for the essence of these forests after living there for so long.
