I know it’s not customary to photograph subjects looking away, but I liked the way this buck was checking out the next valley for potential intruders or before taking his harem into new territory.

7DII, Sigma 150-600 C @ 546 mm, hand held from truck, f/8, 1/2000, iso 800, manual exposure. Straightened a trifle and cropped to 4681x3158 before resizing. Some tonality adjustments a Topaz Detail adjustment to the deer. Taken at 5:11 pm on September 11th.

Just love the curiosity level of stag and like the way you captured it against the sky.
I was just wondering if the frame is tilted?

I’m not sure, Jagdeep. Unfortunately there’s no good reference in the frame. I straightened it by eye in post, but I could certainly be off.

Certainly a non-traditional pose. Nice light on the buck. I keep wanting a little head turn/eye contact, but nice to see something a little out of the box.
