You caught these cattails at a wonderful stage, Allan, and they’re beautifully photographed with excellent light and superb detail. I couldn’t choose between these and if you have another, they would make a great triptych.

Agreed, what a terrific stage of seed dispersal you caught. It reminds me of some large animal shedding, like bison do. The light is soft, but direct enough to provide all that floofy texture. It looks very soft. Both have distinctive characters, the first seems more like something trying to hide, the second seems disorganized and out of sorts.

Allen: What @Kris_Smith said! These are terrific. I don’t recall ever seeing cattails in this stage which makes them an even better treat. A great find and superb captures and presentations. >=))>

Both of them are beautiful images, but if I was forced to choose one, I’d pick the top one. I love cattails, especially when they’re backlit, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen them like this. Beautifully harmonious colors, light, and details. I can’t think of any improvements!
