A very creative interpretation and well executed, Dan. In the smaller image, the background seemed overpowering, but when I opened the larger image, the texture tamed most of it nicely. I do think the bright blue at the bottom of the seed head could be toned down. Since it’s adjacent to the darker part of the subject it tends to pull my eye away and out the bottom of the frame.
This is just wonderful, Dan. I love the swirling “feathers” on the seed pod, which are very nicely highlighted. I agree that the bright aqua at the bottom grabs too much attention. I might also try to dodge the center a little. I like your title and will have to look for one of these seed pods in the future.
